Concept

First clearly define the final goal, because that’s where Open Mind Management© starts. An organization without a clear final goal has the danger of implicitly seeing the status quo as the goal, and that won’t get you any further. A clearly defined final goal focuses energy, provides direction and imposes clarity.

In OMM©, a vision is nothing other than a clear, ambitious final goal at product, organizational and behavioral levels, together with a timeframe. Depending on the type of organization, a vision also has to be adjusted within a defined period of years, even if it’s only because the organization’s environment is also changing. Based on OMM©, the key elements of the vision must provide direction for at least three aspects:

  • What effect does the organization want to achieve with its products/services in which market segments (product/service/market value);
  • What effect does the organization want to achieve on customer perception (customer value);
  • What effect does the organization want to achieve on its environment (environmental value).

Particularly the customer perception aspect implies in OMM© that as well as supplying a ‘good’ product or service, the effect of the interaction between the organization and the customer is a crucial element of the business process. This means not only development and management at process level, but also at the level of behavior of all employees. In OMM©, the desired behavior is derived directly from the final goal.
